No More Death

Today, I heard sounds of great excitement drifting across from my neighbour's yard. Shouts of joy filled the air as a group of men pranced about with glee.

The source of their joy I would soon discover, as the wails of a male goat could be heard for miles. "Buss 'im troat!" (translation: cut his throat), one man yelled. The wails grew louder, and - in my heart - I could feel his sheer terror. I would not look out... could not look out.

The wails drifted into nothingness, the shouts were heard no more. The deed was done, my heart ached... and I knew I was meant to be vegetarian.

Some say animals lack emotion, feel nothing... I know this to be untrue.

So while my neighbours revel, and the goat is transformed into mannish water (head, feet, scrotum) and curried goat...

I will look forward to a day when --

"God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." (Revelation 21:4)

There it is... no death in the earth made new. We might as well get used to the vegetarian diet now... don't you think?
