It's That Time of the Year Again

The start of the hurricane season on June 1, signalled the beginning of unpredictable and all-round wacky weather.

It is the time of year when you try not to complain about heat when it appears, because it could all change in an instant... lightning, thunder, pouring rain, flash floods, chilly temperatures.

Come what may, you take it all... and you learn from it.  You learn that:
  1. Any plans that involve outdoor social activities cannot be set in stone. Contingency (indoor) plans are essential.
  2. Poor weather can mean limited to no Internet access, but you will not die. Believe it or not, this is true. :)
  3. Intermittent power outages are inevitable.
  4. The electric stove in the store should be admired... not purchased. Refer to 3.
  5. In the event that you are now the proud owner of said stove, a backup plan would be a good idea. (For the record, I use LPG for cooking... not electricity)
  6. Updating blogs may not always be possible. Refer to 2 and 3.
  7. Outdoor onion-related experiments will not like the heavy rainfall and will collectively perish, although escallions will attempt to hang on for dear life.
  8. During prolonged spells of wacky weather, humans under the age of 6 will tend to develop 'cabin fever', which may or may not cause them to take temporary leave of their senses. There may be running, jumping, screaming, and other such activities in areas where they were thought inappropriate heretofore. Make sure to have a good supply of puzzles, connect-the-dots, colouring pages, modelling clay, soft balls - in short, fun - in stock. This is vital in order for you to maintain any semblance of sanity. I just happen to know this... okay? ;)

Have a great weekend, wherever you are, and may the Almighty God give you peace... even in the midst of your storms.

Saying goodbye before I get shut down for the umpteenth time,
